To ensure 24/7 connectivity and internet accessibility, the college required reliable Wi-Fi connectivity in each room of its hostel facility.

Challenges:

The hostel buildings, being older constructions, posed several constraints:

• Old Construction: The building’s age meant that laying new cables was not feasible due to the unavailability of pathways for cable installation.
• Limited Room Access: Students often kept their belongings in their hostel rooms and locked the doors, making it difficult to access the rooms during working hours for any installation work.
• Connectivity Needs: Each room required individual Wi-Fi connectivity, which the existing setup could not support without modifications.

Solution:

To address these challenges, our team devised a strategic approach:

• Flexible Installation Schedule: Recognizing the access issues during working hours, our team performed installations during non-working hours, including night shifts. This ensured minimal disruption to the student’s daily routines while allowing us to complete the necessary work.
• Extended LAN Node Cables: Instead of laying new cables, which was not an option due to the building’s construction, we extended the existing LAN node cables using input/output (IO) devices and patch cords. This approach leveraged the current infrastructure while providing the required connectivity.
• Non-Intrusive Process: The installation was carefully planned to avoid the need for extensive modifications to the existing structure, preserving the integrity of the building.

The solution we provided effectively addressed the challenges posed by the old construction and limited room access. By extending the existing LAN setup and working during non-disruptive hours, we delivered a cost-effective, technologically sound solution that met the client’s needs.
